INTAKE + SURRENDER PROCESS

ANIMALS NEEDING RESCUE

When an animal is needing rescue, whether is be an owner surrender or shelter transfer, our team will post the animal in our Facebook Army Group + our Foster Manager will send out an email to all active foster families that have completed training.

Fosters will be chosen on first come first serve. Once you have shown interest in fostering an animal, our Intake Team will reach out via email (intake@greyfacerescue.org) to coordinate the transfer to your home. You have 24-hours to reply or we will move to the next candidate seeking interest in the animal.

PICKING UP YOUR FOSTER

We have some IMPORTANT details regarding your upcoming appointment to pick-up your foster animal.

Our office is located at 30593 Pearl Drive, Suite 1, St. Joe, MN 56374. It’s in an office setting with a small sign on the window with our logo.

At the intake of your foster animal, we do our best to create a calm environment as the process can be stressful for all parties involved.

RULES TO FOLLOW:

  • Do NOT bring resident animals. This is too stressful on the new animals.

  • Do NOT bring small children. Again, the intake process is very stressful on our foster animals and young children can create a more stressful environment that can lead to unwanted behaviors (nipping, biting, growling, lunging, etc.).

  • If you are to meet the surrendering family, we do not tolerate any judgment or discourtesy. This process can be very emotional and sad for owners and we want to be understanding and compassionate for the difficult decision they are making to surrender their beloved animal.

Prior to picking up, your foster will receive an exam, microchip, heartworm test, preventatives (flea/tick + heartworm) and our team will gather the supplies you need.

Take a moment to read through The First Day chapter of our Rescue Resource here.

We recommend reviewing our Rescue Resource prior to bringing your foster home. It has important information to know while fostering with Grey Face Rescue.

Also in there is the Dog + Cat Foster Request Form. Please, fill that out if you are in need of supplies, have veterinary concerns, etc.

After the arrival of your foster, our veterinary team will reach out to schedule a veterinary visit (if needed). They will send you the next available time the clinic has available. If that time and/or day does not work for you, reply with times and dates that work best.

Thanks so much for fostering with Grey Face and we look forward to finding your new foster their forever home!
